Movers In London Ontario – Moving With Your Pet
We all know moving is stressful. What we tend to forget is how stressful a move can be on our beloved pets. They can’t speak for themselves, so we at Robson Moving And Storage, quality movers in London Ontario, will speak for them! Hopefully these tips will help not only keep your pet safe but as stress free as possible.
Go See Your Vet
Being the kind attentive pet owners you are, you will want to visit your veterinarian before you make the big move. If you anticipate the move will be very stressful on your pets ask the veterinarian about sedatives as a last resort. Get a referral from your vet about a new vet in the area you are moving to.
Board Your Pet
Why even bother with sedatives if they aren’t necessary! Give your pet a mini vacation and board them for moving day. It may even be wise to board them for a day before you move so you don’t have to worry about them during all the commotion. You have enough on your plate so why not remove some stress if possible and make the move easier for you and your pet.
Keep Them Away From Moving Traffic
If it is not possible to board your pets during the move, make sure you keep them quiet and as calm as possible by putting them in a room that has already been packed and away from traffic. It is far safer to have your animal removed from the traffic area not only for them but for for us your movers in London Ontario! We are carrying large heavy items and the last thing we want to to see a pet or ourselves get injured!
Clean Your Pet
You are moving into a brand new home that is all spic and span so why not try and keep it that way for as long as possible! Have your pet groomed before you take them to the new home!
Plan Your Route
If you are moving long distance make sure you have a pet friendly route planned! Getting stuck sleeping in your car at 3AM isn’t any fun when you could have avoided the hassle and called ahead to make sure the hotel accepts pets! Make sure you have everything you need to care for your pet with you on the route. Digging around in boxes trying to find supplies will only make the move more difficult.
Your Pets New Home
Make sure you give your new home a thorough inspection to make sure there is nothing dangerous around that your pet could injure themselves on. Try and have a few items with them to familiarize themselves in the new surroundings. It is going to take a while for them to get used to the new digs so try and keep them as calm as you can. Make sure you set up a new bathroom routine as soon as possible! You don’t want your pet to soil that new carpet! Thoroughly inspect your yard if you have one. Make sure it is safe and secure, a pet that runs away when you 1st move in won’t know where to return! Always keep your pet on a leash if not in a secure area. Pets are prone to “bolting” if something startles them in a new environment.
Update The Chip
If you have your pet chipped make sure to update it with the new address!
